Chapter 50

Well then, does everyone remember?

Back when we went to the Elf Village, Naito-san and Kumaemon fought a fierce battle against Sailor Soldier.

That really doesn't matter anymore, everyone's alright now.

But there was something that wasn't alright.

For example, something important that it could be said that it's the sould of a swordsman, was damaged at that time.

While looking at her sword that was sliced in half, Naito-san herself said,

"No, this was a result from my own inadequacies. I still have another, there's no problem at all......"

Even if she said that, she still had this disappointed atmosphere.

Even Kumaemon was rolling the circle part of his broken morningstar, there was a certain sorrow to it.

"...... yup, weapons are certainly important"

Looking at these two, feelings of guilt bubbled up as the cause had something to do with me after all.

I have to move fast and contact Suke-san if they have have any good weapons.

No, even weapons have their own sentimental value.

Should we repair them or should we go with a totally different approach?

After all, those weapons can't even win over our fence.

Besides, weapons that suit the user could be enchanted by me and Kawazu-san, and we could definitely make something interesting with them.

It's just that I'm totally out of my depth when it comes to the topic of weapons, so I should ask the specialist that I'm familiar with.

I went back to the first village that I visited, the place with the inkeeper and her husband.

I had them install a computer, but when I showed the pair's weapons, the boss' eyes turned round.

"The morningstar aside......, this sword is quite unreasonable......"

"Ah, as I thought"

I won't be able to lift that sword up unless I change it's weight with magic.

I could understand how it's unreasonable.

But I think the boss who's inspecting the sword is also quite awesome, as he's lifting it up so easily.

He's using Body Strengthening with it, I bet. Otherwise, I'll cry.

The boss carefully examined the weapon and said the results.

"I think I can fix it, but with just this lump of iron, it's durability will inevitably decline. Just who thought of using this weapon anyway?"

The boss was talking to the computer that I brought.

Then after that, Naito-san's voice could be heard from the computer.

"I used Body Strengthening Magic with it, as it seems to be quite sturdy. Normal steel swords would usually break easily. Recently, I couldn't handle a sword properly unless it's at least that sturdy"

However, the boss was incredibly surprised about the voice that he heard.

"Oh! This thing is really interesting! You can really talk to someone who's far away! But anyway, I see...... if you've trained to that point, you should be quite strong. I couldn't say that to anyone from around here, you see?"

He's talking to the computer at this time, but for now, one should take it into consideration that humans might be afraid of dark elves.

From the boss' personality, I think that Naito-san thought too much into it, as the computer is currently not showing a face, being just on call mode.

But it can still be done like this.

If there's an opportunity, you should take it with a optimistically.

"If we have to make it stronger, it becomes a problem of materials. We can't just bulk it up with steel, can we?"

"I see......"

While the boss and Naito-san were groaning and sighing about some big problem, I remembered something incredibly, a metal that's way better than steel.

"Speaking of materials, how about Orichalcum?"

When I told him about that, the boss nodded with a difficult face.

"Yes yes, it can't be anything but a magical metal. But first, we don't have something like that. I really can't do anything but make the sword even thicker......"

"No, if it's Orichalcum, then I have it"

I immediately took out some metals samples from my magic pouch and arranged them. The boss was stupefied, and for a while, he just examined the samples, but he sighed and went back to sit on a chair.

"......hm, sorry but I can't. I just don't have enough skill to handle this"

He scratched his head, looking a little awkward.

According to the boss, magical metals are too hard and they require special skills to be forged.

I see, as expected from a legendary metal, even handling it is difficult.

"Can't I just form it into a sword with magic?"

I don't think that it would be that difficult if I can just shape it, but the boss crossed his arms and wrinkled his brows towards me.

"Hm, you can even do something like that? But...... I wonder. Although I can't do even that, it's not just a matter of forming a shape. For example, if we're forging steel, we don't just consider the form it will take.
Aside from the difficult parts, just hammering it requires a craftsman's intuition. You don't have that, do you?
We're dealing with orichalcum, so of course you can still make something by just shaping it"

"......that's true, but I don't want to make something so half-baked"

I think the boss frankly laying out the ugly parts is for the best.

It would be a waste unless it becomes a proper sword, it's the rare orichalcum after all.

It's natural to want to make a properly functioning weapon even without the use of magic.

It's not like I can't understand what the boss said about craftsman intuition.

Back then, I also watched the TV and saw a place where they make Japanese swords.

Simply creating the shape doesn't make it a strong steel. Craftsmen extract impurities, as well as control the carbon content, then they temper the sword.

It just that but I can't do something like that, nobody will be delighted with a mass-produced imitation sword.

However, the words that the boss spoke next managed to ignite my interest.

"I know someone who could do it though......"

"Really!?"

As soon as I took the bait, the boss expression became incredibly complicated, seeming like he feels guilty for not fulfilling an order, but he told us this,

"That's right...... if anyone could make it, it would be a Dwarf but, well...... there's a catch"

"A Dwarf!?"

The next one who was caught was Naito-san, who was more interested in the boss' story than I would have thought.

"What's wrong, Naito-san?"

I'm surprised about the uncharacteristic tension coming from her, but Naito-san shyly calmed down.

"N-no, speaking of Dwarves' weapons, they're quite renowned. Having a  Dwarven weapon is like a status symbol for warriors. But it's also a tribe famous for their eccentricity, since they'll never give you a weapon if they don't like you......"

Naito-san's level of excitement was quite considerable since she was unconciously talkative, it's obvious to see her longing for it.

......doesn't this mean we have to do it?

I don't know just how extraordinary it is, but when I think about Dwarves, I've heard that they're some sort of underground fairies.

Just a little more information from boss' mouth would be good.

If there's more Queens and Serenades around, then my impression might change a bit.

"Then, would it be alright if you introduce us?"

I lowered my head, and the boss slightly frowned but agreed.

"Okay...... if it's just introducing you. Although that person is my master, and he's usually a cranky one. I can't guarantee that he'll agree, okay?"

I nodded at the boss concerns.

"Well in that case, we'll think about it when the time comes"

"You're right...... anyway, it's been a while so should I also write a letter for my master?"

"If that's so, I'll try to leave him with a computer too. If he knows the number of this computer, you'll be able to talk anytime"

I suggested with good intentions, but boss gave a bitter laugh.

"......I'll pass on that. I'll just get yelled at everyday"

He said that while looking very uncomfortable.
